As the ActiveLab Program Manager, the role provides opportunity to build on the successful pilot of ActiveLab in 2017: a 12-week accelerator program for some of the most exciting Series A (or equivalent) FitTech companies globally. 

You will be responsible for end to end program delivery, from pre-program, mid-program to post-program activity. You will be extremely hands-on role leading on from managing the company selection process to delivering an exceptional quality accelerator experience, to developing and maintaining engagement with a wide variety of stakeholders from across health and fitness, tech, business and government. In particular, you will focus on the following: 

1.    Program Development & Iteration:

  • Continually evaluate and iterate all the program work streams to ensureengagement and relevance for the selected companies, including

- Program Educational Content 

- Application sourcing and judging

- Online and Offline engagement channels

- Mentors

- Alumni Group

- Innovation Network

- Partners and Stakeholders

  • This involves maintaining a fast feedback loop between program stakeholders and your team and evolving educational content to fit changing needs
  • This will also require complex decision making with ambiguous and often contradictory feedback


2.    Program Management and Reporting 

  • You will be required to coordinate activity across the program and engage with the ukactive Events, Marketing, Client Services and Membership teams and will also be required to collaborate with the wider ukactive team and;
  • Know how to leverage the wider team to achieve shared objectives and support the PAC team on wider ukactive initiatives
  • Use 'flash' questionnaires for teams, mentors, partners and stakeholders to gather feedback on the program and Innovation Network events in real time.
  • Use this feedback to continually refine the ActiveLab program and focus of the Innovation Network, including the ActiveLab Live! event
  • Clear and continuous reporting on measures of success


3.    Pre Program Activity 

  • Develop a pipeline of high potential applicants for the ActiveLab program
  • Outreach to relevant companies via direct outreach, via partners and mentors and through investors/funds
  • Engage and provide information to all interested candidates
  • Implement a clear judging process for selected companies utilising the project board, partners and mentors
  • Conduct interviews with program candidates


4.    Run an exciting and relevant Events Program 

  • Run a portfolio of program and Innovation Network events including breakfast meet-ups, mid-day roundtables, hackathons & dinner and drinks socials
  • Continually iterate to optimise events formats considering all factors including attendees, speakers, calendar invitations, venues, facilitated discussion and more


5.    Community Management

  • Maintain speedy and concise communication with the cohort companies, partners, mentors, project board and other stakeholders
  • Maintain a vibrant alumni network of founders and successfully include alumni participants in the current program
  • Build trust with applicants, alumni and the cohort to create an engaged community of trusting entrepreneurs, founders and senior management
  • Use of existing tools and social media (LinkedIn, Slack, What's App) and the creation and development of online tools to support community engagement for maximum engagement
  • Continually build the Mentor, Investor and Advisor network
  • Network and attend relevant community events to continually source partners and experts who can add value to theActiveLab program

6.    Partnership management 

  • Maintain communication with partners of the program to ensure they are informed about activity and supported in meeting their objectives


Essential skills and experience


- Experience running an equivalent community program OR leadership experience at a fast scaling business (Series A and beyond) 

- Experience setting up or leading projects that requires creativity and flexibility with an operational/execution focus 

- Experience of developing commercial partnerships

- Good understanding of challenges faced by scaling companies

- Understanding of current trends in start-ups & technology and health & fitness and an awareness of the major players

- Customer Centric experience

- Experience that demonstrates you are a doer/go getter

- An ability to make complex decisions with incomplete information
