We are looking for a Project Manager with a specialism or interest in the Health and Wellbeing, Fitness and FitTech to substantially grow ukactive's business in these areas.


As Project Manager, you will be expected to have the skills to take sole responsibility for leading a project or multiple projects ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget whilst securing a reasonable bottom line contribution. This will include budget forecasting and control, detailed planning and delivery, risk management, strong stakeholder management and resource mapping capabilities.


You will also be aware of potential opportunities to develop the business, and have a relentless desire to do more, take on more responsibility, delivery more and achieve more.


General Duties

  • To successfully develop and manage multiple projects from conception, agreeing on project planning, project objectives, through to delivery and completion.
  • To build strong relationships with national stakeholders, local authorities, health bodies and commissioners whilst representing the client's or organisation's interest.
  • To provide ongoing account management and support.
  • To set up and manage all key project management processes, procedures and documentation including risk assessments and team management.
  • To use ukactive's project change control techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • To source and recruit sub-contractors and specialists and monitor to ensure guidelines are maintained.
  • Ability to identify skills needed within the team or project and recruit accordingly.
  • Strategically assess the viability of a project to ensure our ability to deliver it successfully in a sustainable, scalable and adequately resourced manor.
  • Working collaboratively with ukactive teams to develop existing products and services for further innovation and improvement, including our newly launched ActiveLab Program.





Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A proven track record in project management with experience in setting up or leading projects that requires creativity and flexibility with an operational/execution focus
  • Expert account management delivery
  • Able to build strong, lasting commercial relationships
  • Experience with developing more junior resources within a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self motivated, reliable and punctual
  • Good organisational skills and time management
  • Ability to work as part of a team and motivate others.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to adapt working styles and approaches based on changing role requirements
  • Preferable to have experience working in or with both the public and private sector
  • Interest in Physical Activity sector and passion for fitness.
  • PMP/PRINCE II certification will be advantageous



  • Experience in financial planning and management
  • Experience with developing more junior resources within a team
