Andy Burnham, Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Professor Kevin Fenton Director of Health & Wellbeing, Public Health England will deliver headline speeches as top decision makers from the government, public health and the physical activity sector gather in London on Thursday 13th November for the ukactive National Summit, it was announced today.  Bobby Duffy, MD of Public Affairs at Ipsos Mori also joins the keynote line-up to outline the consumer context for public perceptions and behaviour towards physical activity in the UK. The Summit title, "Steps to solving inactivity", delivers an agenda focussed around defining the tangible next steps in the battle against inactivity.

The largest political event in the sector's annual calendar, the ukactive National Summit will examine the future of physical activity and the public health agenda. The Summit attracts more than 400 senior influencers from across physical activity, health, policy, brand, media, research, the charity space, and local authority commissioning. It will be chaired by The Guardian & Observer's Health Correspondent, Denis Campbell.

"This Summit is the pinnacle of twelve month's work moving the conversation on physical activity to the top of the government's health agenda" said David Stalker, CEO, ukactive.

"In a year of unprecedented cross-sector engagement, the presence of this incredible line up of speakers is an indication that leaders are acknowledging the impact physical inactivity has on lives as well as the nation's purse strings. The Summit is a unique opportunity for delegates to capitalise on the current momentum as we move into the next phase of delivering on our collective mission to improve the nation's health through physical activity."

Shadow Secretary of State for Health, Andy Burnham will offer delegates an insight into Labour's health plans and manifesto, with an emphasis on how his party intends to shape their policies to incorporate physical activity ahead of the 2015 General Election and beyond.

Professor Fenton will provide an overview of Public Health England's Physical Activity Framework and how this will influence the delivery of national health and wellbeing programmes administered through and by the NHS and local authorities. He will also touch on the key strategic priorities for Public Health England over the coming year.

The current line-up of keynotes will be rounded off by Bobby Duffy, Managing Director of Public Affairs, Ipsos Mori; who will deliver a national snapshot of general trends in public behaviour against the current UK landscape of health and wellbeing.

In addition to key insights into the future of national physical activity policies and delivery, the ukactive National Summit offers practical, evidence-based interventions and best practice detail to activate in workplace environments across the UK. It is the premier event for anyone with an interest in physical activity and public health.
