ukactive works closely in partnership with Sport England to achieve the mutual goal of getting more people active. The two organisations have a memorandum of understanding, which sees them working together to raise standards of operation, work together to engage commercial partners, support national governing bodies to work in partnership with leisure operators and harness the potential of digital technology to get more people playing sport.
The two organisations have collaborated to integrate the ukactive Code of Practice with the Quest for Leisure scheme, develop a service for operators to benchmark their levels of performance and develop spogo - the sports and fitness finder.
Sport England welcomed the announcement of ukactive with the following quote:
"Sport England is focused on helping people and communities across the country create a sporting habit for life and we are investing more than £1 billion of National Lottery and Exchequer funding between 2012 and 2017 in community sport to achieve our goals. We work with a wide range of partners to support the 15 million people who play sport every week and to get more people involved. We have already worked with the FIA on a number of projects, for example the Quest for Leisure scheme, business performance benchmarking and spogo - the sport and fitness finder. We look forward to continuing to work with ukactive to help more people become more active." Richard Lewis, Chair of Sport England
