The ukactive Awards 2023 entries have launched today (22 May), with the awards night heading to Leeds on Thursday 26 October.

The physical activity sector will come together and celebrate at the New Dock Hall within the Leeds Royal Armouries to recognise the very best of the physical activity sector – from fitness and leisure facilities of all sizes, to suppliers, sports organisations, sector partners, and individuals at the top of their game.

This year’s awards will celebrate those driving inclusion, innovation and transformation in the physical activity sector as part of our mission to get more people more active, more often. Submit your entry here to showcase your organisation.

There are 15 awards to be won, and all organisations are encouraged to enter with a written submission by 23 June to be in with a chance of winning.

This year’s ukactive Awards ceremony will be held as a standalone event for the first time since 2018, with the Active Uprising taking place at a later date.

Those who are shortlisted or go on to win a ukactive Award are recognised as the best in the sector, building on their reputation among peers and the communities they serve.

Last year’s winner of ukactive’s Regional and National Club of the Year, Outstanding Organisation of the Year, and the Digital Transformation Award, Parkwood Leisure, commented how the awards reinforced client confidence, and their drive for excellence.

Glen Hall, Managing Director at Parkwood Leisure, said: “2022 was a landmark year for Parkwood Leisure, culminating in winning four ukactive Awards. The awards were an important milestone for the company, aided by the culmination of a number of key strategic projects both online and in centre.

“We were delighted that it gave our teams the justification for the hard work being put in, and it gave our clients the confidence that they were working with the right strategic partner. The feedback was excellent from both those who attended in-person, and from those at sites. The talk soon became about ‘what’s next?’ and ‘how do we continue to drive for excellence?’. This is now in our DNA.”

Huw Edwards, CEO of ukactive, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of this year’s ukactive Awards, as well as revealing the New Dock Hall in the Leeds Armouries, which is a great new venue for our unrivalled awards ceremony this October.

“Once again, our members and partners have been truly inspiring in the face of adversity, following the economic challenges of the past year, and we want to recognise the drive and success of our teams.

“The physical activity sector has achieved so much in 2022-23, and the ukactive Awards is an opportunity to showcase the value that our organisations add to communities across the UK.

“Our sector has never played a more vital part in the role of protecting our nation’s health. With influential projects underway that have huge potential to step into the health space, such as musculoskeletal hubs and the Opening School Facilities programme, we’re really looking forward to seeing a diverse range of entries this year that highlight just how much value our sector adds to society.”
