Following the launch of the UK Health & Fitness Market Report 2025, this blog series shares the views of industry leaders on the growth of the sector. In our second blog, we hear from three Leisure Management System providers who contributed anonymised data from independent operators for the report.

What is your experience of working to support the UK health and fitness market?

Mark Worrell (MW), Managing Director, ClubWise Software Ltd:

At ClubWise, we’ve been embedded in the UK health and fitness industry for over two decades, providing club management software solutions that are designed to empower operators to grow, engage and retain their member base. Our experience spans working with independent gyms, multi-site operators, and boutique studios, and we take pride in being a strategic partner – not just a software provider. We work closely with our customers to understand their challenges and help them adapt to the ever-evolving fitness landscape. Whether it’s streamlining operations, improving the member journey, or supporting digital engagement, our mission is to make club management simpler and more effective.

Chris Windram (CW), CEO, Quoox:

Quoox is a provider of gym management software to the niche of premium, independent, small group training gyms. Our clients are in the position of delivering high-quality, high-value services to their members, but often with limited resources and a small headcount. We work with our clients to help them establish and implement the systems and processes necessary to deliver a premium service and ensure that their members get the experience they want and deserve.

Wayne Heath (WH), Founder & CEO, ClubRight:

I have 18 years of experience in the fitness industry, working across multiple areas including health clubs, gym management, membership sales, and fitness technology.

Owning our own independent clubs originally, helped me develop a deep understanding of what gyms and fitness businesses need to thrive, particularly around member experience, retention, and financial stability. That’s why at ClubRight we are ‘built by gym owners for gym owners’.

What do the findings within the UK Health & Fitness Market Report 2025 mean for your business?

MW: The findings in this report reaffirm the critical role technology plays in supporting both operational efficiency and member experience. We’re seeing an increased demand for integrated, data-driven solutions that not only manage a club’s day-to-day but also provide insights that help operators make informed decisions. The focus on digital inclusion, community engagement and the integration of health into fitness aligns with our own roadmap. It’s influencing the way we prioritise feature development, especially around engagement tools, health data integration, and creating frictionless member experiences that support long-term retention and wellbeing outcomes.

CW: The valuable work undertaken by ukactive, Sport England and 4GLOBAL, in creating the UK Health & Fitness Market Report is extremely beneficial to us as a supplier to the industry. It helps us ensure that we are on-point and targeted with the information we provide our clients. In an industry where there is so much myth and misinformation floating around, having a factual report created by credible and trusted sources helps realign perceptions.

WH: This report allows gym owners to see the latest growth trends, how customer experience changes in clubs can affect the overall retention position, but also the ability to attract new members. This means that gym owners can be more measured and strategic in their decisions and implementation of future business changes.

What opportunities does this report present and why should LMS providers get involved?

MW: The UK Health & Fitness Market Report 2025 highlights the growing intersection between health, fitness, and digital services – an area ripe with opportunity for LMS providers. There’s a clear shift toward holistic wellbeing, and as such, members are expecting more personalised, outcome-based experiences. LMS providers can play a key role in facilitating this shift by offering platforms that track progress, support behaviour change and provide education around health. For ClubWise, it’s an opportunity to collaborate more deeply with operators and the wider ecosystem, helping to bridge the gap between fitness and preventative healthcare. We believe LMS providers should be involved not just to support their customers more effectively, but to help shape the future of the sector.

CW: As custodians of valuable, factual data, I would encourage all LMS providers to engage with this landmark project. Ultimately, everybody in the market wins – whether they be suppliers, service providers, or end-members. Quoox is proud to be involved in this project and to be in a position to support those who have worked so hard to bring it to fruition.

WH: ClubRight’s involvement in providing key data metrics to the UK Health & Fitness Market Report survey makes the report more representative of the market sector, which also means there is a much broader view of market changes. As an LMS/CRM provider it is really important to play our part as the bigger the pool of data, the better the report will be.

At ClubRight we have always been at the forefront of ensuring that independent gyms get a powerful and affordable solution to run their business, meaning we have the perfect understanding of this market.
