To celebrate National Fitness Day 2025, a new blog series shares the success of ukactive members that have helped power the campaign. The series explores the benefits that getting involved in National Fitness Day can have for organisations and their communities.
In this blog, we hear from Everyone Active’s Group Development Director, Ben Beevers, who explains how the business has hosted National Fitness Day events, from a launch event at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Park to taster exercise classes for the local community.
How has Everyone Active supported National Fitness Day?
At Everyone Active, we’re passionate about getting people moving and helping communities embrace healthier, more active lifestyles – so National Fitness Day is a natural fit for us.
We’ve proudly supported the campaign for many years, and last year we were honoured to host the official launch event for the day at the iconic London Aquatics Centre on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The launch brought together sports professionals, including Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions Ambassador and Paralympian, Maisie Summers-Newton,TeamGB Olympic weightlifter, Emily Campbell as well as Everyone Active and ukactive employees alongside the general public to highlight the vital role physical activity plays in our wellbeing. We started the day with an early morning Rejuvenate group exercise class to provide a taster of the National Fitness Day exercise classes on offer and to inspire our 240+ Everyone Active centres to get involved!
A day that makes a difference
Each year, National Fitness Day provides a springboard for engagement – not just with our members, but with the wider community.
We’ve previously opened our doors to offer free activities and taster sessions making it easier for people of all ages and abilities to try something new. Whether it’s a first-time gym visit, a fun swim session with the family or a wellness class, the campaign helps us break down barriers and show people that fitness can be fun, accessible and inclusive.
For us, it’s about creating a gateway – that first positive experience that keeps people coming back.
A shared responsibility
National Fitness Day reminds us that getting the nation active is a collective effort – and businesses have a key role to play. From hosting colleague workouts to encouraging active travel, there are countless ways for employers to get involved and promote movement in the workplace. We’ve seen firsthand how simple actions can inspire long-term change, and we encourage everyone to join in.
As a leisure provider, we also see the day as an opportunity to support our local authority partners in their public health objectives to live well and age well. Promoting physical activity as a lifestyle behaviour can help reduce health inequalities, particularly in communities with the greatest need.
We’re proud to support the campaign and can’t wait to help the nation move again this September.
Last year, ukactive interviewed Ben Beevers as part of its National Fitness Day launch event at London Aquatics Centre, at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
