The finalists of the ukactive Awards 2025 have been announced by ukactive today (19 August), with leading businesses and star performers shortlisted from across the UK.

Proudly supported by headline sponsor STA, the ukactive Awards will take place at the ICC in Birmingham on Thursday 30 October and celebrate the organisations and individuals driving innovation and impact across the physical activity sector.

As one of the most anticipated moments in the sector’s calendar, the ukactive Awards 2025 has seen a record number of entries from organisations of all shapes and sizes from across the UK’s physical activity sector, each bringing unique stories of success.

As part of a raft of improvements, changes to the application process have helped to make the Awards as transparent, and therefore as representative of the sector, as possible. To ensure all types of operators are recognised, two new categories have been introduced for 2025: Independent Club/Centre of the Year and Private Club/Centre of the Year. The additions reflect ukactive’s commitment to celebrate excellence across the sector.

The judging process for the awards has been led by Proinsight, an independent organisation that has provided honest and objective feedback for each entry. Improvements have also been made to the judging process, including an additional layer of judging at Stage 1, which increases the integrity of the process and has helped to gather more thorough, balanced feedback from the marking stage.

Huw Edwards, CEO of ukactive, said: “The ukactive Awards celebrate the very best of the UK’s physical activity sector, and it is the perfect opportunity to recognise the organisations, programmes and individuals that are behind this success.

“We were delighted to see a record number of entries this year, following the improvements we have made which show our commitment to make the Awards as representational, transparent and competitive as possible.

“We’re looking forward to recognising the incredible work of our sector on the night and beyond, and we welcome all ukactive members and their teams to come and celebrate our progress together.”

Ali Beckman, President of STA, the headline sponsor of the ukactive Awards, said: “All of this year’s ukactive Award finalists have shown creativity, dedication, and vision, and we congratulate them – along with everyone who entered – on their outstanding achievements. With a record-breaking number of entries of exceptional quality, this year truly showcases the talent and passion within our industry.

“As headline sponsors for the third year running, STA is proud to celebrate all that is great about the physical activity sector – leadership, diversity, excellence, and fresh thinking.

“We’re honoured to play a part in recognising these achievements and wish every finalist the very best of luck as we look forward to applauding their success at this year’s event.”
