In 2021 ukactive set out a shared ambition for growth, which based on analysis shows that the gym, fitness, and leisure sector can attract more than five million new people to use gyms, pools, and leisure centres on a regular basis by 2030. This growth would support the health and fitness needs of over 20% of the UK population – up from 15% penetration before the covid-19 pandemic.
To meet this ambition, our sector needs to be developing in line with consumer trends, consumer expectations, and requirements whilst also tackling behaviours and perceptions of consumers towards the sector and its facilities.
To do this and support the sector ukactive have embarked on an area of work that aims to lead the way on informing the sector (our members) on recommended areas of growth and the expectations, perceptions, and requirements from the consumer directly, to tackle how we grow, engage and support the nation together to lead more physically active and healthier lifestyles.
