The results of this research indicate that the Engage to Compete Challenge can support a child to improve specific skills related to an active lifestyle.

Questionnaire and focus group findings support the correlation between self-reported physical activity and self-efficacy; an increase in one will lead to an increase in the other. The benefits of regular physical activity are needed at an earlier age, with the support from both teachers and family members. Combining these elements may help a child’s ‘Journey to Sport’ through wider participation, increased self-efficacy, skills, and knowledge.
