As the trade show season comes to an end, what better way to finish than with Elevate at ExCel London on 8-9 May. It is hard to believe it’s only been five years since Max and the team created this event and it has only gone from strength to strength, with over 350 exhibitors and 300 speakers featuring on this year’s agenda.

ukactive is again Lead Supporter of the ‘Strategies for an active nation’ seminar stream, aiming to drive momentum within the sector behind Sport England’s 2016-21 strategy ‘Towards an Active Nation’.

There are speakers from ukactive across the event, with our newly appointed acting CEO Huw Edwards leading a session on how the physical activity sector has a great opportunity to revive the flagging high streets – one not to be missed.

ukactive Director of Children, Young People and Families Jack Shakespeare will chair a session entitled ‘Engaging Generation Inactive’, setting out a roadmap for the sector to overturn the physical inactivity crisis facing children in the UK and  ukactive Client Services Director Steven Scales will lead in a session on transforming leisure facilities to maximise engagement.

Meanwhile, Public Affairs and Policy Manager Jon Hulks will draw on lessons learnt from our report ‘Reimaging Ageing’ to discuss how the sector can create better products and services for older adults.

Elevate also represents a fantastic opportunity to show off our 2019 ActiveLab cohort. All 9 finalists will be available to explain their products and ambitions for the sector, a great chance for attends to explore how fit-tech is disrupting the market, particularly ahead of the grand finale at Active Uprising in June where the 2019 winner will be announced.

Elevate is a great way for ukactive to engage with our members and this year you can book meetings directly with our team. We will be running drop-in sessions across marketing and communications, public affairs, policy and research, so please do make the most of your memberships by booking an appointment with the team via the Elevate app.

Finally, it obviously wouldn’t be a fitness event without the networking aspect and it’s always great to bump into old friends, current clients and new connections walking around the show.

Myself and the rest of the team very much look forward to seeing you there, do give us a visit at our stand at R78, and if any of the suppliers have new products you want our team to try, please do let us know.
