ukactive has announced the opening of its 2020 Awards, with a raft of new categories designed to reflect the very best of the physical activity and sports sector.

The ukactive Awards represent the biggest celebration of excellence in the sector’s calendar, with the winners being announced at Manchester Central on Thursday, 4 June.

Taking place on the evening of Active Uprising, the awards ceremony, partnering with Active iQ, will present 11 awards which are divided into three groups: Business Excellence, Specialist Impact and Individual Achievement.

Entries are open until Sunday, 9 February, offering an excellent opportunity to raise your organisation’s profile by showcasing your achievements, benchmark yourself against the best in the sector, and celebrate your team’s success.

Newly designed awards include Generation Active, the Diversity and Inclusion Awards, the Physical Activity Hero Award and the Outstanding Leadership Award.

Entrants will be rated by Proinsight and Active iQ before being reviewed by the judging panel, except for the Physical Activity Hero Award and the Outstanding Leadership Award, which will be put to a public vote.

The judging panel of 19 industry experts will review the submissions and announce the finalists in April, before inviting them to the Judges’ House on Thursday 23 April to make a final decision.

For each paid-for entry within the Business Excellence or Specialist Impact groups, applicants can submit one entry into Physical Activity Champion of the Year, Transformational Leadership or Unsung Hero Award, free of charge.
